Defiant mother speaks out after courts rule she’s ‘too stupid’ to care for her child
I stumbled upon this article quite by accident, so if there has been more to this story, please ignore my ignorance and carry on.
I have to say that this is a troubling thing to see. Maybe she is stupid. But like she said, there are a lot, and I mean a lot of stupid people out there with kids. Why is she being singled out? What about the single mom who’s IQ is 89? Or 88? Where’s the cutoff? How close are you to it? I think it should be the state’s responsibility to try and train her, or at the very least, harass her to death with visits. Whatever it takes, instead of just taking the lazy way out and “selling off” the child so to speak.
Even if she is legitimately deemed too dim to be the primary care giver, the child should never be adopted away against the parent’s will. Ever. I don’t care how stupid anyone might be, no one should be stripped of the title of mother (even if only a title), unless they gave it away willingly. Ever.

About your article, Gene Simmons summed it up nicely, quote there are mothers and then there are mothers. Some just have the title and nothing else behind it and there are mothers that do everything possible to enhance the child that they gave birth to. I guess he was referring to his own mother as the deserved title. By the way you don’t have to be the biologic mother to deserve that title, most adopted children consider their adopted mother more of a mother than what their real mother would have been, it takes a very special person to adopt and love a strangers child.
